More normal on our way to church.
Hello again. It's still me, Syster May, here.
So this week was rad. We met with the cuuutest lady from the Philippines named Elizabeth. Last week we got on a bus and I sat down next to this lady and started talking to her and turns out she is a member! She's not active and she isn't even on our ward lists but she lives in our area. It was so cool. Just like, another testimony that God leads this work. That he cares about each individual person. So I was talking to her and turns out that she left her Book of Mormon in the Philippines when she moved here and she wanted another one. So this week we were able to go to her house and give her one and talk to her for a while. She is just the absolute sweetest.
We also had a zone training on Thursday where we talked about the church's new easter initiative and got to watch the new easter film. Loooove it! (Read that in the dragon's voice from Dragon Tales; the one who always says looove it! duh. obviously that one). But actually though. It is so good. The last guy at the end who just shakes his head a little as he says hallelujah. (go watch the film. you'll see what I mean) Yes. I agree. Sometimes I don't know how the Atonement works; I don't understand how I can feel so happy even when maybe my life is busy and crazy or sad and everything isn't perfect. But with my faith in Christ I'm happy anyways. Despite everything. It gives me hope and joy. I'm very grateful for that.
Yesterday in church actual pure miracles happened. We were standing by the doors welcoming people and talking to them as they came in and this guy walked in who none of us recognized and was like, "Where are the missionaries?" So we all went over to him and were trying to guess who he was and he was like "Ya, I read about your church online and read a little of the book of mormon and just wanted to come." Okay, cool, we can work with that I guess. He lives in our area so during sunday school we just taught him the restoration. It was actually perfect because priesthood and relief society were about Joseph Smith (our church is backwards: relief society then sunday school then sacrament). So we asked him what he was thinking about Joseph Smith and he was like yeah, he's a prophet of God. He was saying how it all just feels right and when we talked about Christ and the atonement he was like, that sounds good. I was like, yeah, it feels good too. Basically we are so so exctied to keep meeting with him. His name is Emilliano. Also, he's 15. Basically he is Joseph Smith. But not a prophet. Or the restorer of our church. But like, nästan the same.
Then ALSO during sacrament meeting these two girls just came in and sat in the back and aparently their mom talked to missionaries on the street and she gave them our card and they want to be taught and learn more and try it out too.
It's just like. Wow. I don't know what to say. We do everything we can and work our hardest but really it's not about what we do. The Lord will lead us to the people that he's prepared. Or lead them to us.
Today we're playing werewolf with other missionaries in Häggersten. Does anything else even need to be said about that? No. Funnest.
Here are some things that I adore about Sweden:
1) Aloe Vera water. I don't know why we don't have this in the US. It's basically impossible to explain but it's flavored water that has little aloe vera blurbs in it. So you low key can chew the water. It's so good.
2) Cucumber on EVERYTHING. Especially on tacos. Try it out. Delish
3) Kladkaka. Divine cake/brownie/doughyness.
4) Boots. Everyone wears darling little boots here. Men, women, children. And it works because they're so stylish. I would say I wish everyone in America would start to wear them but in reality so many American's would have to change their whole wardrobe before they would even be acceptable.
5) Camaraderie on public transportation. You're all just there together and when the bus driver does something googy everyone just looks at each other and it's just plain fun.
6) Flags. They have darling Swedish flags everywhere in neighborhoods. But they aren't normal flag sized. They're super long and skinny. So cute.
Also it's been sooo warm here. We've mostly all switched to smaller coats, one pair of tights, maybe even no gloves. It's the dream.
I'm just happy and I can't believe that it's almost General Conference and I'm super excited for that and for Easter (someone asked if they celebrate Easter here...yes..). Mångaa löööövs.
Love,
Syster May
We have a group text with all the sisters that the STL's have been giving us weekly themes for selfies to send to the group message. This week was "our furry friends."
lol. We found this in the Church from Christmas. "He was born so that I could....write this paper." Clever Swedish children.
